Via an existing, approved science-based target, by 2030 the company will reduce its value chain Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions in scopes 1,2 and 3 by 25%, with a further 50% reduction in the following decade.\u00a0 To address the 90% of emissions in scope 3 resulting from third party actions, CCH will broaden its existing partnership approach with suppliers.\u00a0 Wherever the issue cannot be eliminated entirely, the business will mitigate these by investing in other climate protection measures.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the announcement, Zoran Bogdanovic CEO of Coca-Cola HBC AG said, \u201c<em>This commitment is the ultimate destination of a journey that we started many years ago. It is fully aligned with our philosophy to support the socio-economic development of our communities and to make a more positive environmental impact.\u00a0 Both are\u00a0integral to our future growth. Although we don\u2019t yet have all the answers, our plan, track record and partnership approach give us confidence that we will deliver<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Robust Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15030 alignleft lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/bcsdh.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2021-12-09-at-20.13.33.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"453\" height=\"350\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 453px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 453\/350;\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To achieve its goal Coca-Cola HBC will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Invests \u20ac250 million by 2025 in initiatives that aim to significantly reduce GHG emissions from business operations<\/li>\n<li>Decarbonise further direct operations\u00a0by switching to 100% renewable electricity and low carbon energy sources through continuous improvements and innovations in energy efficiency<\/li>\n<li>Accelerate its journey to a more circular, lower carbon packaging approach\u00a0by increasing\u00a0rPET\u00a0use, adopting\u00a0packageless\u00a0and refillable options, removing plastics in secondary packaging<\/li>\n<li>Provide energy-efficient and eco-friendly coolers\u00a0to customers<\/li>\n<li>Reduce GHG emissions from agricultural ingredients<\/li>\n<li>Implement a \u201cGreen Fleet\u201d programme\u00a0to switch to low and no carbon alternatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, Coca-Cola HBC has introduced CO2 emission reduction targets as one of the elements in its long-term management incentive plans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Strong Track Record<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Coca-Cola HBC was one of the first companies to commit to and deliver science-based targets.\u00a0 In the last decade, the company has halved its direct emissions and the CO<sub>2<\/sub> reduction plan to 2030 is already endorsed and approved on the 1.5-degree pathway.\u00a0 In March 2021, Coca-Cola HBC was\u00a0rated the\u00a0world\u2019s most sustainable beverage company by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index\u00a0for the 5th time in the last 7 years, achieving its\u00a0highest\u00a0ever score. It is also ranked among the top sustainability performers in ESG benchmarks such as\u00a0CDP, MSCI ESG and FTSE4Good.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Partnership<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>We are delighted to work together with our customer Coca-Cola HBC on our mutual 2030 science-based greenhouse gas emission reduction targets and longer-term net zero aspirations.
