E.ON has commissioned a new energy storage facility in Soroks\u00e1r to enhance energy network stability and allow the connection of new solar panel systems to the grid. This development was realized through a HUF 784.5 million budget<\/strong>, in part financed by the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility and from E.ON’s own resources.<\/p>\n

\n

The energy storage facility is comprised of 16 outdoor battery cabinets, each with a capacity of 344 kWh, for a total capacity of 5.5 MWh<\/strong> and an output of 2.5 MW\u2014equivalent to the daily output of 350 household solar panel systems<\/strong>. That\u2019s enough energy to power an electric car for up to 43,000 kilometres, the same distance to circumnavigate the Earth along the equator. The development will increase the stability of the grid, reduce potential outages due to voltage fluctuations, and indirectly enable the connection of new solar panels.<\/p>\n

The new storage facility supports MAVIR<\/strong> (\u2018Hungarian Transmission System Operator Company\u2019), which manages Hungary\u2019s electricity system, in maintaining network balance <\/strong>by evening out the lag between production and consumption. The advancement aligns with the objectives of the country\u2019s National Energy and Climate Plan<\/strong>, and increases the competitiveness of the economy and its resilience to climate change.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In 2018, ELM\u0170 H\u00e1l\u00f3zati Kft., part of the E.ON Hung\u00e1ria Group, also installed the country’s first large (10 MW) battery energy storage system with a capacity of 6 MWh in Soroks\u00e1r. Together with the new battery unit, E.ON’s storage facilities in Soroks\u00e1r now encompass a total output of 12.5 MW and a capacity of 11.5 MWh<\/strong>, thereby strengthening the integration of renewable energy sources and grid stability.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
