The ESG working group of the Business Council for Sustainable Development in Hungary (BCSDH) held its first meeting of the year on February 12, 2026<\/strong>, focusing on the rapidly changing European and domestic ESG regulatory environment and the practical preparations of companies.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, participants received first-hand information on changes to key legislation and standards, and had the opportunity to share experiences and engage in joint reflection.<\/p>\n

The participants were welcomed by Tam\u00e1s Rajnai<\/strong>, Head of Sustainability at E.ON Hung\u00e1ria Zrt., whom we would like to thank for hosting our event.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The main topic of the event was the latest developments in the European sustainability reporting system. Mr. Sven Gentner<\/strong>, Head of Unit at the European Commission’s DG FISMA, gave an overview of the background and expected impact of the changes in an online presentation. In his presentation, he gave a brief overview of the results of EFRAG’s work, which aims to make corporate reporting obligations more proportionate and manageable. In addition to highlighting the most important deadlines, he also answered questions from participants.<\/p>\n

The development of the domestic regulatory environment also played a prominent role in the meeting’s program. Csaba G\u00e1bor Moln\u00e1r,<\/strong> ESG Director at the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority, discussed the most pressing issues affecting companies in an interactive consultation on the administrative reduction measures related to the ESG Act and the practical interpretation of compliance requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the meeting, participants were able to share the current status of their ESG preparations, reporting and data collection challenges, and best practices that can help with regulatory compliance in moderated small group discussions.<\/p>\n

The rapid development of ESG regulation\u2014the ESRS’s simplification efforts, the refinement of the practical application of the CSRD, and changes in the domestic compliance framework\u2014is increasingly making the measurement and management of sustainability performance a strategic issue. The BCSDH working group meeting offers up-to-date professional guidance and dialogue for company executives and ESG decision-makers.<\/p>\n
