{"id":28058,"date":"2022-02-01T12:10:02","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T11:10:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bcsdh.hu\/esemeny\/race-to-zero-carbon-what-can-business-do-about-climate-change\/"},"modified":"2022-02-08T16:19:20","modified_gmt":"2022-02-08T15:19:20","slug":"race-to-zero-carbon-what-can-business-do-about-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/bcsdh.hu\/en\/event\/race-to-zero-carbon-what-can-business-do-about-climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cRace to Zero Carbon\u201d \u2013 What can business do about climate change?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>Commitments and actions to reduce carbon emission<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4><em>At the online \u201cRace to Zero Carbon\u201d event, BCSDH, the British Embassy, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Embassy of Germany are urging domestic companies to commit to a faster and more ambitious GHG emission reductions and to announce their commitments reducing the impacts of climate change.<\/em><\/h4>\n<p>The Race to Zero Carbon event promotes the post-pandemic economic recovery as a sustainable one and build momentum around the shift to a decarbonised economy ahead of COP26, where governments and companies must strengthen their contributions to the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Attila Chik\u00e1n Jr.,<\/strong>\u00a0president of BCSDH,\u00a0<strong>Iain Lindsay,<\/strong>\u00a0British Ambassador to Hungary,\u00a0<strong>H.E. Ren\u00e9 van Hell<\/strong>, Ambassador of Netherlands to Hungary,\u00a0<strong>Klaus Streicher<\/strong>, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy, and\u00a0<strong>Dr. Barbara Botos<\/strong>, Deputy Minister of State for Climate Policy and\u00a0<strong>Prof. Dr. Di\u00e1na \u00dcrge-Vorsatz<\/strong>, Vice Chair of Working Group III of IPCC are urging domestic companies to commit to a faster and more ambitious emission reductions and to announce their commitments reducing the impacts of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The European Commission presented its roadmap, the European Green Deal in December 2019. In March, it recommended an EU climate law, that would allow the continent to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The EU roadmap for climate targets remains in place, but the climate regulation must also be approved by the European Parliament, preferably before the next UN COP26 climate conference postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic.
