Coca-Cola HBC: Hungary: for the first time in the Stockholm Junior Water Prize!

For 17 years, Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) has congregated the world’s most imaginative young minds for an outstanding competition, encouraging their continued interest in water and sustainability issues.

In Hungary, the competition was first organized this year by the Global Water Partnership Hungary, with the valuable support of socially responsible organizations. One of the main sponsors of the competition was Coca-Cola Hungary. The patron of the competition was Péter Kovács, deputy secretary of state for water, Ministry of Rural Development.

The winner was selected by a jury of experts on water related issues, and representatives of the supporting companies and partner organizations. According to the opinion of the jury ‘The Importance of the Szinva-stream’  was the best project work among the 6 applications in the final round. The winning project was developed by the students of the Gyula Fényi Jesuit High School of Miskolc. The winners represented Hungary in the international final during the World Water Week in Stockholm.

As an extra honour, all finalists were also invited to take part in the Youth Forum of the Global Water Summit held in Budapest in October.

Each year, thousands of participants in over 30 countries join national SJWP competitions in the hope of getting the chance to represent their country at the international final.

The national and international competitions are open to young people between the ages of 15 and 20 who have conducted water-related projects of environmental, scientific, social or technological significance. The projects may range from local or regional to national or global topics.
