World Economic Forum publication spotlights Action2020

Green Light, the monthly newsletter by the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Agenda Council on Governance for Sustainability, recently focused its January edition on the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) new Action2020 initiative, set to be officially launched later this month at the WEF’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

The WEF’s Green Light publication highlights promising economic and environmental initiatives, and in its January edition, entitled Can business help the world become more sustainable?, Green Light describes Action2020 as, “a framework for the business community to take concrete and measurable steps toward a sustainable pathway voluntarily.”

The publication’s first section highlights the WBCSD’s Vision2050 initiative that set out three years ago to tackle how nine billion people could live well and within the boundaries of the planet. The remaining four sections of the publication focus on explaining Action2020’s nine priority areas and societal ‘Must-have’ targets, along with the business solutions that combine to provide a roadmap for achieving Vision2050’s overarching goal.
