Program Objective:

Folprint Zöldnyomda Ltd was successful in the call for proposals “Green National Champions” – Supporting the technological development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the green economy, and the investment was implemented with the help of EU funding of HUF 204 985 708 under the Széchenyi Plan Plus programme. The aim of the development was to replace plastic packaging waste with paper-based packaging and to create the necessary infrastructure.

Program Measures and Commitments:

The development was carried out in the industrial park of Pákozd in Fejér County, where a 1000 sqm industrial hall was built as part of a greenfield investment. The company received the occupancy permit in September 2023 and the investment was completed with the installation of solar panels at the end of November. As a result of the development, it is calculated that the company can replace at least 100 t of plastic waste per year with paper-based packaging, the collection of which is ensured in Hungary – the complex packaging portfolio will make the company’s service exportable, so the following equipment was purchased:

Automatic box gluer with automatic gluing machine

Program Impact and Results:

The investment has been completed and the project has been successful. The new technologies took some time to set up and learn, but we are now ready to mass produce boxes. In parallel with the investment, we have introduced our paper packaging solutions to our partners. Paper box production has been successfully launched. However, the replacement of plastic trays with paper trays is not going smoothly. Experience shows that neither producers nor distributors are yet willing to replace the familiar plastic trays with paper trays. This is partly due to the price difference between the packaging solutions. On the other hand, the players in the value chain are waiting for each other to start moving in this direction. We believe that a breakthrough in this area can be achieved if legislation is introduced, as it is for plastic cups and straws. We are ready.
