Preparation of the second National Framework Strategy on Sustainable Development Framework Strategy – the voice of business matters

On 7 June 2023, thirty-three business leaders took part in a consultation meeting at parliament, during which the Business Council for Sustainable Development in Hungary (BCSDH) and its member companies presented their proposals for the forthcoming second National Framework Strategy on Sustainable Development (NFSSD). After two years, the National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD) organised this workshop for the fourth time.

At the beginning of the event, Gábor Bartus, Dr., Secretary of the NCSD, presented the milestones of the preparation of the Framework Strategy and the Council’s view on the situation of sustainability in Hungary. He said that while progress had been made in a number of areas since the first Framework Strategy, significant efforts were still needed in the areas of natural resources, knowledge capital and social capital. He also stressed that he was counting on the views of the business sector not only at the beginning of the process, but throughout the whole process of developing the Framework Strategy, including in the context of sectoral proposals and consultations.
Representing the BCSDH, Ifj. Attila Chikán, President of the BCSDH, welcomed the participants and invited the present company managers to present their views. Several concrete suggestions were made on the systemic understanding of sustainability, the harmonisation of international and national legislation, the more efficient use of natural resources and the development of social capital. At the same time, we are still facing serious challenges in the field of education and regulation. Thank you to our more than 30 participating member companies for a fruitful joint work!Click on the link to see a gallery of the event.
