ALTEO launches 15-year biodiversity strategy, setting a new benchmark for environmental leadership in Hungary

ALTEO has launched a comprehensive 15-year biodiversity strategy that sets a new benchmark in corporate environmental responsibility in Hungary. Developed by the company’s Green Committee, the program aims not only to improve the ecological conditions of ALTEO’s own sites but also to preserve and restore habitats beyond its immediate industrial impact zones. The strategy is closely aligned with the European Union’s 2050 biodiversity objectives.

The company’s plan includes concrete actions, such as the creation of pollinator-friendly habitats, the control of invasive plant species, the implementation of alternative water management solutions, and habitat restoration and water retention projects within the Hernád River catchment area. Among the medium- and long-term goals are the ecological assessment of wind farms, the development of landscape-level conflict maps, and the planning of green infrastructure.

“Sustainability is embedded in ALTEO’s DNA and remains at the core of our operations. We aim to set a leading example in biodiversity as well and take on a pioneering role,” emphasized Anita Simon, Deputy CEO for Sustainability and Circular Economy at ALTEO.
