There is increasing pressure on companies to take sustainability aspects into account and comply with the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Many companies will be required to submit a CSRD report as early as 2025, which will be a major challenge for most companies. To help you overcome these challenges, we have fresh programmes to help you.

Free CSRD Academy

With the launch of the CSRD Academy e-learning platform, our aim is to make the knowledge about sustainability regulations more understandable for everyone. Building a more sustainable business should not only be the responsibility of the CSRD report writer, but also of the management and other stakeholders. That’s why our free training platform allows anyone to deepen their knowledge, whether they want to learn more about dual materiality or other areas of CSRD.

You can access the material available on the e-learning platform here: CSRD Academy

CSRD Bootcamp and ESG-CSRD Preparatory Workshop

We launched the Hungarian ESG-CSRD Bootcamp for the second time, the international version of which is now available under the name CSRD Bootcamp. Bootcamp aims to provide companies with tools that can be used immediately, such as our full CSRD software or best practices based on feedback from first ESRS reporting. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the programme places a strong emphasis on practice, which is continuously coordinated by our international team of external and internal experts.

ALTEO’s EBITDA grows again in the second quarter despite the declining energy price environment

Member News

Despite a moderating energy price environment, ALTEO managed to maintain its profitability in the first half of the year at a higher level than before the energy price boom of 2022, and even increased its EBITDA on a quarterly basis. The management of the company, listed in the premium category of the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE), is positive about the results of its individual business units, highlighting the dynamics of the waste management division.

In the first six months of this year, ALTEO achieved more than one and a half times the result of the first half of 2021, the last year before the price explosion. The consolidated EBITDA of HUF 9.8 billion is less than the record achieved in the first half of 2023, but the EBITDA of HUF 5.3 billion in the second quarter of this year is 9% higher than the previous year. The consolidated net profit of HUF 5.8 billion is HUF 3 billion less than the one achieved in the first half of 2023.

Looking at the performance of the business divisions in the first half of the year, it is worth highlighting the waste management segment, which achieved significant growth at the EBITDA level. The company continued active investments as set out in its strategy, the highlight of which is a HUF 28 billion multi-site energy storage development project.

ALTEO started the second half of the year with doubled solar power plant capacities

Member News

ALTEO has commissioned a solar farm in the outskirts of Tereske which started its trial operation in August. The facility, that was built with ALTEO’s own investment and construction in just three quarters of a year, has an output of nearly 20MWAC, doubling the solar power plant capacity of ALTEO, a company listed in the premium category of the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE).

ALTEO’s new solar power plant will be capable of generating 31 GWh of electricity per year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 10,000 households. The company acquired EDELYN SOLAR Ltd, which owned the project to develop the solar power plant, back in 2022. ALTEO completed the project in the village of Tereske in Nógrád County, in the space of nine months, with its own investment and construction exceeding EUR 17 million.

The importance of the investment is demonstrated by the fact that this development means a twofold increase of ALTEO’s own solar power plant portfolio which will significantly increase the performance of the company’s renewable energy generation business. Even more significant is the integration of the Tereske solar power plant into ALTEO’s Renewable Regulation Centre. This will enable the use of weather-dependent solar power in the provision of resilience services to the national electricity grid.

Dreher Breweries has replaced its forklift trucks with zero-emission electric vehicles

Member News

We are proud that Dreher Breweries is the first member company within the European headquarters, Asahi Europe and International, to operate its entire fleet of forklift trucks with renewable energy.

The new electric forklifts, powered by lithium-ion batteries, are state-of-the-art material handling equipment. They are more ergonomic, easier to operate and quieter than the previous fleet that had internal combustion engines. The new cabs are more comfortable, wider and offer better visibility, making loading safer. The forklifts are also equipped with intelligent camera system, making them much safer – for example, if they see a pedestrian on the road, they slow down automatically.

An additional advantage of electrically powered forklifts is that they can be connected to a charger at any time, for any length of time, which helps them to be used without interruption.

The new vehicles are fully compliant with the 2030 sustainability guidelines of Asahi Europe and International, as they have zero carbon emission.

In this video, Milan Krunity, Logistics Manager at Dreher Breweries, and Bertold Virág, Country Warehouse Manager, demonstrate the operation of the new forklift trucks.

The report details the Exchange’s sustainability strategy for 2023-2025 and the initiatives it has taken during the year to implement this strategy. The BSE is implementing its strategy with a twofold objective: on the one hand, the company is striving to establish a high level of ESG principles in its own day-to-day operations, thereby also providing guidance to domestic capital market players, and on the other hand, it is seeking to provide support for issuing companies and the ecosystem around the stock exchange in the area of sustainability.

By the end of the year, a dedicated platform on the BSE website was created to present the green issues of the exchange, providing a single point of access to all information on BSE green investment products. In additionthe activities and responsibilities of the Exchange’s Corporate Governance Committee have also been extended, and it now operates as the Sustainability and Corporate Governance Committee.
