German citizens see climate change as the greatest social challenge

According to a recent survey conducted by research institute puls on behalf of E.ON, one in three Germans (32.9 percent) believe that climate change is the greatest social challenge at present. German citizens are even more concerned about the climate than about pollution (23.6 percent), poverty (26.3 percent) or war, which currently only worries 17.2 percent of the population.

Moreover, 77 percent of German citizens are prepared to change their own behavior in areas such as transportation, food, living environment or shopping, or have already done so. Almost a third (33.5 percent) of people in Germany are prepared to pay up to 10 percent more for climate-friendly products, while another third (39.3 percent) would pay up to 5 percent more for sustainable products.

“Our survey shows that the German population is prepared to contribute to reducing climate-damaging greenhouse gases. E.ON has been advocating increased CO2 pricing for some time in order to provide a renewed incentive to promote and implement climate-friendly forms of energy. In addition, our energy solutions support companies, cities and end customers in sustainably reducing their CO2 emissions,” states Johannes Teyssen, CEO of E.ON SE.

At the same time, technological changes and the need to tackle climate change means there is a transition under way to a lower-carbon, multi-source energy system with increasing customer choice.

Shell seek for opportunities to join the public and expert debates focused on energy challenge and transition. That’s why Shell in Hungary decided to join as key partner Budapest Energy Summit  this year, largest energy conference in the Central & Eastern Europe region welcoming more than 300 participants from the energy industry, governments and top executives from the worlds of technology and finance. Wouter Koopman from Shell International Exploration and Production will join the expert panel focused on the role of gas in the clear energy world. Andrea Bujdoso, Country Chair and Sales Manager of Shell Hungary Zrt., will attend as key speaker The Women in Energy Conference, which is part of the Summit featuring leading women from the global energy sector.

Shell Hungary gives also opportunity to students from Széchenyi István University in Győr to showcase at the conference their ultra- energy-efficient vehicle they developed for Shell Eco-marathon competition, which aim to challenge students of technology to design, build and test their vehicles, which can compete to go the farthest on the least amount of fuel.

Essity wins two European Cleaning and Hygiene Awards for Tork´s sustainable solutions and EasyCube®

Yesterday evening, the winners of the 2018 European Cleaning Awards were announced — and Essity won two prestigious awards for ‘Best Practice-Sustainability’ and ‘Technological Innovation of the Year’.

The professional cleaning sector employs millions of people across Europe and plays a vital role in hygiene, well-being, image and job satisfaction The Award aims to recognize and reward standards of excellence in all areas and at all levels of employee policy, client relationships, sustainability, innovation and driving up industry standards.

The company´s commitments and activities on well-being, more from less and circularity were named best in class by the jury. And Tork EasyCube was chosen as winner because the new IoT platform, customer insights and proven customer value makes Tork EasyCube as an Innovation that just keeps innovating

Tork PaperCircle, available in some countries across Europe, enables customers to decrease their environmental footprint and work circular by collecting and recycling used paper hand towels locally into new tissue products. The result cuts the carbon footprint by 40 percent compared to current waste handling options*.

Unlike other solutions that are still in beta mode, Tork EasyCube currently has more than 100 customers – across high-traffic venues ranging from amusement parks and shopping malls to airports and office buildings. Using aggregated data and insights from these customers Essity can clearly demonstrate results such as 24 percent less cleaning rounds needed, 20 percent less hours spent whilst increasing the quality of cleaning and employee satisfaction.

National Recognition – Grundfos Manufacturing Hungary Ltd. received “The Family Friendly Company of the Year” Award

Every company is focusing on employee motivation and retention in Hungary. One of the biggest company realized based on analyse from last year that the most efficient PR activity was to take part on Family-friendly Company award. In 2018 the call was submitted by 200 companies, of which 17 were awarded the “Family Friendly Company”.

The mission of the Three Princes, Three Princesses movement is to help the birth of more children in Hungary by supporting the reconciliation of careers and families activities. Since 2013 the association has been a “Family-friendly Company” award for companies that contribute to a family-friendly approach by supporting work and private life balance. At the Friday evening event in Budapest, Grundfos Manufacturing Hungary Ltd. won the main prize “Family-Friendly Company of the Year 2018” by acknowledging our family-friendly activities and aspirations.

At the event, Deputy Prime Minister Mihaly Varga emphasized that the remunerated solutions are exemplary, which need to be collected and share in order to create as many family-friendly jobs as possible, benefiting companies, people, families and the country too.

“The Family Friendly Company of the Year 2018” award was take over to 1 company per categories, evaluating small, medium and large companies. In the large company category were “competitors” such as Budapest Bank Zrt. (GE Group), IBM Hungary ISSC, MOL Nyrt., NI Hungary Ltd., Szerencsejáték Zrt. Grundfos got the nationally acclaimed award for flexible working forms, organizing summer camps, coordination of male and female roles and work-life integration.
